Originally from Vancouver, British Columbia, Keer Tanchak has lived throughout Canada and also in Münster, Germany. She received an MFA with a fellowship from the School of the Art Institute in Chicago in 2003, and a BFA with distinction from Concordia University in Montreal in 2000. Tanchak won the Artist Fellowship Award from the Illinois Arts Council in 2009 and the Studio Arts Award for Most Outstanding Graduating Student at Concordia University in 2000. In 2003, the Canadian-Scandinavian Foundation chose Tanchak for the Brucebo Scholarship, which funds research and a painting studio on the Swedish island of Gotland. Tanchak has remained in Chicago, painting and exhibiting extensively in Canada and the US as well as London, Switzerland, Dubai, Puerto Rico and Mexico. She is currently represented by DEAN PROJECT in NYC and Elissa Cristall Gallery in Vancouver.
