Stalactite meeting a stalagmite (wood, beakers, water, baking soda, string)

Joseph Rynkiewicz is an artist and freelance photographer living in Chicago. He received his BFA in Photography from Columbia College in ’07. He works as the Exhibitions Coordinator at Marwen and fills the rest of his time with freelance photography, art handling and slinging cocktails as one half of the arts commerce project Hornswaggler Arts. This summer he was a resident at ACRE residency in Wisconsin. We will learn more about his practice and residency experience when we interview him later on this year.

Through various material approaches, Rynkiewicz’s work deals with the complex relationship between personal experience and the struggle to articulate it. Grounded in the natural world and its phenomena, Rynkiewicz explores familiar sensations, situations and the manner in which we inhabit and process.
